Python Job: Junior Wireless Engineer

The opportunity

At TPG Telecom, we are constantly looking for future technologies to bring the best network services and solutions to our customers. As a Wireless Engineer, you will focus on Wifi and other non-3GPP standard wireless network, where you will have opportunity to work on design and implementation of the company’s public wifi network in various locations and identify the potential application of non-3GPP standard wireless network like the IEEE 802.11 series of technologies.

Responsibilities

• Interact with pre-sales and other team members to understand the public Wifi project requirements from various stakeholders and then liaise with vendors to provide the technical solution.
• Hands on commissioning and configuration of WLC and other network equipment such as switches and routers.
• Troubleshooting of network issues during the commissioning phase of a Wifi network.
• Act as L3 escalation points for Wifi network related outages and performance issue.
• Collect and analyse Wifi network performance data, prepare network KPI reports for internal and external use.
• Raise, implement, and manage network changes as required.
• Trial and test other IEEE stream of wireless network based on specific use cases.

Knowledge and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant degree/experience
• Understanding of RF planning and 802.11 standards (a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Wifi network architecture and key security protocols.
• Proven experience in with Cisco WLCs, Prime and analytics platform like DNA space. Thorough
• Minimum 2 years hands on experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and operating Cisco switch and routers. Strong understanding of key protocols like ARP, VLAN, DHCP, OSPF, TCP, TLS etc.
• Scripting and programming skills in Python or Go
• Strong communication skills.
• Motivation to learn and grow.
